In the framework of the MATRA programme (subsidy arrangement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs) the Dutch government applies itself into the construction of the societies of Central and East European countries. The programme is focused on the support of a multiform, democratic constitutional state in those countries. The MATRA programme gives a significant contribution to the empowerment of good management and democratic citizenship.

The ChristianUnion supports by the MATRA Political Programme (one of the sub-programmes), activities in Central and Eastern Europe in order to stimulate and develop the construction of Christian politics in these countries.

At the moment MATRA projects are active in Armenia, Bulgaria, Romania, the Balkan region, Moldova, and Ukraine.
